Provenance:

This lovely 1962 Lotus 22 Formula Jr. takes us back to a time when single-seater racing was truly raw and focused on extreme precision. Weighing in at under 900 pounds and having zero aerodynamic assistance, these 1960’s Formula Jr cars were go-karts on steroids. The founder of Lotus Cars, Colin Chapman, was never concerned with big horsepower, but had his eyes set on weight saving and mechanical grip. The Lotus 22 was a beautiful expression of that idea. This particular 22 is one of 77 produced and has a fantastic vintage racing record. Throughout the 1990’s, this car was owned and raced extensively all over the USA by Brian Blain. In 2000, he sold the car to Shairon Beale, who successfully campaigned the car from 2000-2005. In 2004 and 2005, Shairon won the North American Formula Junior (Monoposto) Championship and secured the 2005 Juan Fangio National Monoposto Championship. Log books and records from 1990-2005 come with the Lotus. Shairon has trusted MOTORVAULT to represent her fantastic Lotus and is ready for her car, “Noddy”, to have the next chapter written.
