Provenance:
The Caterham SP/300.R is a purpose-built track weapon engineered to deliver the purest expression of lightweight performance. Developed in partnership with Lola Cars, the SP/300.R combines aerospace-inspired chassis design, advanced aerodynamics, and Caterham’s signature minimalist philosophy to create one of the most focused track cars of its era. Unknown at the time, this would be the last masterpiece designed and engineered by Lola before operations came to a close. Constructed around an aluminum honeycomb monocoque, the SP/300.R achieves exceptional rigidity while keeping weight to an absolute minimum—resulting in explosive acceleration and razor-sharp handling. At its heart is a supercharged 2.0L Ford Duratec engine paired with a paddle-shift sequential gearbox, producing thrilling power delivery and instant response. With high-downforce bodywork, race-spec suspension, and competition-grade braking, the SP/300.R offers a driving experience that rivals modern prototypes and single-seat race machines.
Designed exclusively for track use, the SP/300.R was conceived for Caterham’s one-make racing series and for drivers seeking a pure, uncompromising performance tool. Its cockpit reflects this mission: FIA-compliant safety equipment, data acquisition systems, and a driver-focused layout that prioritizes control, precision, and feedback. Rare, extreme, and engineered for the enthusiast who demands a visceral connection to the road course, the Caterham SP/300.R stands as one of the most exciting and exclusive track cars Caterham has ever built—delivering prototype-level dynamics with the lightweight purity the brand is known for.
The Caterham was imported to the US in 2013 and spent time at Atlanta Motorsports Park during its first ownership. In 2017, the current owner purchased the Caterham to add to his stable of track toys. The car has seen limited track use since 2017, with less than 10 hours being added to the clock. In 2024, all fluids were flushed and changed including engine oil, brakes, coolant, and supercharger. We are honored to have this personal sports prototype racer available at MOTORVAULT.
