WHY WE LOVE IT

Some collector cars tell their story through mileage. Others tell it through documentation. This 2002 Porsche 911 Turbo offers both.

Powered by Porsche's legendary GT1-derived Mezger engine and paired with the desirable six-speed manual transmission, the 996 Turbo has become one of the most respected modern analog Porsches ever produced. Free from the IMS bearing concerns associated with naturally aspirated 996 Carreras, the Mezger-powered Turbo has earned a reputation for exceptional durability while delivering performance that remains impressive more than two decades later.

As collectors increasingly recognize the significance of the Mezger-powered era, factory-original, low-mileage examples have become increasingly difficult to source. What truly separates this Turbo, however, is not simply its mileage—it's the continuity of care documented over nearly twenty-five years.

Rather than spending long periods parked away, this Porsche returned to authorized Porsche dealerships for routine annual maintenance regardless of mileage. It remained in the hands of meticulous enthusiast owners who prioritized preservation over modification, resulting in one of the most comprehensively documented 996 Turbos we have encountered.

Adding to its appeal, the car remains completely factory stock and is accompanied by its original order documentation, factory production records, original window sticker, decades of Porsche dealer service history, Porsche Club of America publications, concours recognition, recent independent mechanical testing, and extensive cosmetic preservation records.

This is precisely the type of Mezger-powered Turbo serious collectors actively seek—highly original, exceptionally documented, and independently verified.

PROVENANCE

Delivered new through Blue Grass Motorsports in Louisville, Kentucky, this Arctic Silver Metallic 911 Turbo was custom ordered by its original owner in July 2001. Included with the sale are the original buyer's order, Porsche production documentation, internal Porsche Cars North America order worksheets, original Monroney Window Sticker, temporary registration, and dealer correspondence documenting the vehicle from the day it was ordered.

The original owner, an active member of the Porsche Club of America Hill Country Region, maintained the vehicle almost exclusively through Roger Beasley Porsche, later Porsche Central Austin, for more than sixteen years. Rather than servicing the vehicle only when required, the extensive history file documents consistent annual maintenance despite extremely low annual mileage, illustrating an ownership philosophy centered on long-term preservation.

Adding to its documented history are original Porsche Club of America publications featuring both the owner and the vehicle, including recognition as Best in Show and Class 5 Winner at a Hill Country Region Porsche Club Concours event. These period publications further reinforce the exceptional condition and enthusiast ownership this Turbo has enjoyed throughout its life.

Ownership later transferred to Pennsylvania, where the vehicle continued to receive routine servicing through Porsche Main Line in Newtown Square. Maintenance remained preventative in nature, including ignition components, fluid services, alignments, Michelin tire replacement, scheduled inspections, and routine annual servicing.

In early 2026, the vehicle was acquired through respected Porsche specialist PA Euros in Exton, Pennsylvania following a comprehensive inspection and service.

Since entering the current owner's collection, preservation has remained the priority. The original paint required no paint correction prior to receiving professionally installed full-body Paint Protection Film, ceramic coating, professionally refinished wheels, and ceramic wheel protection totaling more than $6,600 in documented cosmetic preservation. The interior was professionally ozone treated and carefully detailed.

Most importantly, the Porsche remains completely stock, retaining its factory engine, six-speed manual transmission, suspension, exhaust system, and appearance without aftermarket modifications.

Today, with just 21,091 original miles, documented ownership spanning nearly twenty-five years, uninterrupted Porsche dealer service history, concours recognition, and extensive recent mechanical verification, this Turbo represents one of the finest collector-grade standard 996 Turbo examples currently available.

detailed sERVICE HISTORY

Unlike many collector vehicles that have long gaps in their maintenance records, this 911 Turbo is accompanied by an extraordinary collection of invoices documenting continuous care from new. The vehicle remained under the stewardship of enthusiast owners who consistently entrusted maintenance to authorized Porsche dealerships and respected marque specialists regardless of annual mileage. This preventative approach to ownership is evident throughout the history file and has undoubtedly contributed to the exceptional originality and condition the car presents today.

SUMMARY

Nearly twenty-five years of continuous documentation, routine Porsche dealer maintenance, preventative servicing, independent inspections, and recent preservation investments tell a compelling story of enthusiast ownership. This is not simply a low-mileage 996 Turbo, it is a meticulously preserved, thoroughly documented collector example that has benefited from consistent, knowledgeable stewardship since new.

RECENT MECHANICAL VERIFICATION

Prior to marketing the vehicle, the current owner commissioned one of the most comprehensive independent mechanical evaluations possible through Jon Fricker Automotive in Carmel, Indiana. Rather than relying solely on service history, the objective was to independently verify the condition of the Mezger engine and overall drivetrain for the next owner.

Completed at 21,091 original miles, the inspection included a comprehensive pre-purchase inspection, Bosch DME analysis, compression testing, cylinder leak-down testing, road test, and complete mechanical evaluation.

This independent inspection further supports what the extensive service history already suggests—this is an exceptionally well-preserved and mechanically healthy 996 Turbo.

BOSCH DME ANALYSIS

One of the most important pieces of documentation for any collector-grade manual Porsche is the Bosch DME over-rev report.

Unlike cosmetic condition, the DME cannot be altered. It permanently records engine operating history and over-rev events throughout the vehicle's life.

This Turbo produced an outstanding report.

DME Results

  • Only two minor Range 2 ignition events

  • Both occurred more than 100 engine operating hours prior to inspection

  • Zero Range 3 events

  • Zero Range 4 events

  • Zero Range 5 events

  • Zero Range 6 events

For knowledgeable Porsche buyers, the absence of higher-range over-revs is exactly what they hope to see and is consistent with careful ownership throughout the vehicle's life.

The DME also recorded approximately 700 engine operating hours, producing a realistic lifetime average speed that aligns perfectly with the documented mileage and ownership history.

Simply put, the DME supports exactly what the documentation tells us—this Turbo has been responsibly driven and exceptionally well cared for.

COMPRESSION TEST

To further document engine health, Jon Fricker Automotive completed a full compression test on all six cylinders.

Results

Cylinder Compression

#1 @ 200 psi

#2 @ 200 psi

#3 @ 200 psi

#4 @ 200 psi

#5 @ 185 psi

#6 @ 200 psi

These results demonstrate excellent cylinder sealing and remarkably balanced compression across the Mezger engine. While cylinder five measured slightly lower than the remaining cylinders, it remained well within acceptable operating parameters and was supported by excellent leak-down numbers.

CYLINDER LEAK-DOWN TEST

Leak-down testing is considered one of the most important indicators of engine condition because it measures each cylinder's ability to seal under pressure.

Results

Cylinder Leak Down

#14%

#21%

#32%

#41.5%

#57%

#63%

These figures are excellent for a twenty-four-year-old Mezger engine and further validate the outstanding mechanical condition of this Turbo. Combined with the compression results and clean DME report, they provide meaningful reassurance that the engine has been properly maintained throughout its life.

INDEPENDENT INSPECTION FINDINGS

Beyond the engine evaluation, Jon Fricker Automotive completed a thorough inspection of the vehicle's major systems.

Inspection confirmed:

Engine & Drivetrain

  • Excellent engine operation

  • Healthy compression and leak-down

  • Outstanding DME report

  • Smooth clutch engagement

  • Transmission operates properly

  • Differential operating normally

  • Turbochargers functioning properly

Suspension & Steering

  • Suspension components inspected

  • Steering components inspected

  • CV boots in good condition

  • Engine and transmission mounts inspected

  • No abnormal wear observed

Braking System

  • Front brake pads approximately 90% remaining

  • Rear brake pads approximately 90% remaining

  • Brake lines inspected

  • Brake calipers inspected

Cooling System

  • Cooling system inspected

  • Radiator hoses inspected

  • No significant cooling concerns identified

Overall Condition

The inspection noted only minor age-related observations:

  • Small windshield chip

  • Minor lifting in isolated areas of the paint protection film

  • Slight seepage from a rear engine oil fitting

  • 2019-dated Michelin tires recommended for replacement due to age rather than tread wear

Importantly, none of these observations detract from the overall collector quality of the vehicle.

PRESERVATION HIGHLIGHTS

Since entering its current collection, this Porsche has continued to benefit from a preservation-first philosophy rather than cosmetic restoration.

Recent documented preservation includes:

  • Over $6,600 invested in cosmetic preservation

  • Full-body premium Paint Protection Film

  • Professional ceramic coating

  • Ceramic-coated wheels

  • Professionally refinished factory wheels

  • Interior professionally ozone treated

  • Original paint requiring no correction before protection

  • Factory-original drivetrain

  • Factory-original suspension

  • Factory-original exhaust system

  • Factory-original appearance

  • No aftermarket modifications

This investment was made not to restore the vehicle, but to preserve an already exceptional example for future ownership.

CONDITION

This 911 Turbo presents exactly as one would expect from a carefully preserved collector automobile.

The original Arctic Silver Metallic finish remains exceptionally glossy with outstanding panel fit, excellent trim, and beautiful overall presentation. The Black Full Leather interior exhibits minimal wear consistent with the remarkably low mileage and has been carefully maintained throughout its life.

The engine compartment, luggage compartment, underbody, suspension, and drivetrain all reflect conscientious ownership and regular professional servicing.

Between the comprehensive documentation, recent mechanical evaluation, exceptional cosmetic preservation, and complete originality, this Porsche stands among the finest standard-production 996 Turbo examples currently available.

MARKET PERSPECTIVE

The market for Mezger-powered Porsche models has evolved considerably over the last several years. While all 996 Turbos benefit from one of Porsche's most celebrated engines, today's collectors have become increasingly selective, placing significant emphasis on originality, documentation, ownership history, and verified mechanical condition.

This example distinguishes itself in every one of those categories.

Factory-original examples showing just over 20,000 miles have become increasingly scarce, but few combine such exceptionally low mileage with an uninterrupted paper trail dating back to the original order. The nearly twenty-five-year history file documents continuous Porsche dealer servicing, concours participation, PCA involvement, and preservation-minded ownership that simply cannot be recreated.

The recent independent inspection further elevates this Porsche. A clean Bosch DME report, outstanding compression and leak-down results, and comprehensive mechanical evaluation provide meaningful reassurance that the vehicle's exceptional cosmetic presentation is matched by equally impressive mechanical health.

Perhaps most impressive is the philosophy of ownership demonstrated throughout its history. Rather than modifying or restoring the car, each owner focused on preservation focused on maintaining originality while investing in preventative maintenance and cosmetic protection. The original paint, requiring no correction prior to receiving full-body paint protection film and ceramic coating, is a testament to that stewardship.

As collector interest continues shifting toward analog, Mezger-powered Porsches, opportunities to acquire examples with this level of originality, documentation, and independent verification are becoming increasingly uncommon. Whether added to an established Porsche collection or enjoyed as one of Stuttgart's most rewarding modern performance cars, this Turbo represents an exceptional opportunity to acquire one of the finest documented standard-production 996 Turbos available today.

MOTORVAULT SUMMARY

Finding a low-mileage 996 Turbo is becoming increasingly difficult.

Finding one that remains completely stock, has only 21,091 original miles, retains its original paint, required no paint correction before full-body PPF, carries nearly twenty-five years of uninterrupted documentation, received continuous Porsche dealer maintenance, earned Porsche Club concours recognition, and has been independently verified through Bosch DME analysis, compression testing, and leak-down testing is exceptionally rare.

This is more than simply a beautiful Porsche, it's an extensively documented, thoughtfully preserved, collector-grade Mezger Turbo that has been cared for with remarkable consistency since the day it was ordered in 2001.

For the discerning Porsche enthusiast or collector, opportunities like this are becoming increasingly few and far between.
